MANOA, NANAKULI MAKE-A-DIFFERENCE DAYS THIS SATURDAY

 

KAPOLEI, HI – The City’s Storm Water Quality Branch of the Department of Environmental Services (ENV) is holding both the Manoa and Nanakuli “Make-A-Difference Days” this Saturday, Oct. 5.

 

In Manoa, volunteers need to check-in by 8 a.m. at 3202 East Manoa Road to cleanup Kolomona Ditch.  The Manoa cleanup starts at 8:30 a.m. 

 

In Nanakuli, volunteers should check in at Nanakuli Beach Park to clean Nanakuli Stream by 8:30 a.m. with the cleanup to begin at 9:00 a.m.  Cleanups last about two hours.

 

Volunteers will clear weedy overgrowth, amend soil, plant native shrubs and ground cover to stabilize the soil, mulch and gather green waste for disposal.

 

ENV partners with businesses, schools, public officials, the state and military organizations.  The cleanups will provide educational materials on reducing trash.

           

Participants should dress to get dirty and bring the following:  water, hat, old covered shoes and sunscreen.  All participants must sign a release form to participate.
