SEASONS AND THE SEA
TRADITIONAL HAWAIIAN OBSERVANCE AT THE WAIKIKI AQUARIUM
May 2, 2013, Waikiki Aquarium, 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
(Wed., May 1, 2013) - A once-a-year Hawaiian cultural sunset ceremony will be take place on Thursday, May 2, from 5:30 p.m. just Ewa of the Waikiki Aquarium grounds. The Seasons of the Sea observance marks the transition from Ho‘oilo (wet season) to Kauwela (hot or warm-dry season) as the sun sets into the crown of Pu‘u o Kapolei. The beauty of the sunset, together with chant, hula, and mo‘olelo creates a capitvating experience.
Guests are encouraged to bring mats or low chairs and sunglasses. The event is being presented by the Waikiki Aquarium and the Mayor’s Office and Culture and the Arts.
