ROYAL HAWAIIAN BAND PERFORMS FOR KAMAAINA SUNDAY

(Fri., January 4, 2013) − The Cityís Royal Hawaiian Band will make a special appearance at Iolani Palace at 12 noon, January 20, 2013, for Kamaaina Sunday, a monthly event presented by the Friends of Iolani Palace.

Kamaaina Sunday, usually held on the second Sunday of each month, offers residents an opportunity to tour Iolani Palace at no charge. Both the palace galleries and docent-guided tours of the first and second floors are free of charge for Hawaii residents who provide a valid state identification, Hawaii driverís license, or active military identification in conjunction with proof of Hawaii residency. On January 20, residents and visitors can tour the palace while enjoying the music of Hawaiiís only royal band on the palace grounds.

Founded in 1836 by order of King Kamehameha III, the Royal Hawaiian Band is one of the last living links to Hawaiiís monarchy. For more information on Kamaaina Sunday performances, visit iolanipalace.org.  For more information on the Royal Hawaiian Band concerts, call 922-5331.
