ENV Responds to Sewer Overflow in Honolulu

KAPOLEI The City's Department of Environmental Services responded late this afternoon to a sanitary sewer overflow at 1207 Lilo Place in Honolulu.

ENV received the call at 5:10 p.m., arrived at the site at 6:00 p.m. and brought the spill under control at 7:15 p.m.

Roots clogged a 6-inch terra cotta pipe to overflow a manhole and send 4,050 gallons of untreated wastewater into a box culvert at 1214 Nehoa Street.

ENV crews cleaned, disinfected and deodorized the area.  State Department of Health has been notified.  Warning signs and water sampling have been waived by DOH.
